The second paper describing the effects of TA-65 and a comprehensive health maintenance program has been published online on pubmed. In it we demonstrated that the program reduced total and LDL cholesterol, fasting glucose and insulin, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, and improved bone density. The effect of the program was very beneficial in that it decreased glucose, blood pressure, and cholesterol only if they were above the optimal range and didn't lower them to a level where adverse effects could occur. This is unlike current therapies that can overshoot the ideal level and points to a different mechanism, one of improving homeostatic control rather than a pharmacologic effect. Of course, this was not a randomized, controlled trial and many factors could have affected these parameters, including the supplement packs. However, there is a controlled trial of TA-65 over half completed taking place in Madrid that will potentially give us more proof of the effectiveness of small molecule telomerase activation in middle-aged adults. We hope to have preliminary results in the next 6 months.
